ABSTRACT

Coicis Semen is a common traditional Chinese medicine for medicine and food homology, with high nutritional value, known as "the King of Gramineae". It contains fatty acids and esters, polysaccharides, flavonoids, triterpenes, alkaloids, sterols, lactams, starch and other compounds, which exerts different effects in the treatment of diseases of Coicis Semen to achieve the purpose of treatment. Recent research has found that Coicis Semen not only has a good effect of removing dampness and diuresis in the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, but also can treat a variety of cancers, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases. Furthermore, it can enhance immunity and regulate intestinal flora. It also can be used as the treatment for medicinal diet auxiliary diseases, and the clinical adverse reactions are less, and the medication is safer. Kanglaite injection with Coicis Semen oil as the main raw material has been widely used in the clinical treatment of a variety of cancers, and many health foods and medicinal diets are also under development. This paper mainly discusses the research progress on the chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of Coicis Semen, hoping to provide reference for the further study of Coicis Semen.

ABSTRACT

Oligopeptides are simple in composition, high in safety index and good in drug preparation, which are important components of biomedicine. However, due to the limitation of oligopeptide drug design theory and discovery pathways which are far less than other structural drugs, obtaining new bioactive oligopeptides is a hot and difficult topic in this field. As a natural oligopeptide library, Chinese materia medica (CMM) contains a large number of active oligopeptides. Oligopeptides of CMM have vital biological activities such as neuroprotection activity, liver protection activity, antitumor, anticoagulation, anti-oxidation, immunity enhancement, etc. In this paper, the sequence and biological activity of active oligopeptides discovered by scholars at home and abroad in the past 10 years were reviewed, and the relationship between active oligopeptides and classification of CMM was explored. It is preliminarily suggested that CMM such as tonifying deficiency drugs and promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis are the sources of natural oligopeptides. There are many research results easy to be successful in the research and development of new oligopeptide drugs, which provides directions and ideas for the development of new active oligopeptide drugs.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the antitumor activity of Xerophilusin G on S180 cells, and Its mechanism. Methods Modified MTT assay was used to test the effect of Xerophilusin G on the proliferation of S180 tumor cell strain. The influences on tumor growth and immune organs of mice with transplanted sarcoma (S180) were observed. The cell cycle of S180 cell lines and mouse sarcoma (S180) was analyzed by flow cytometry. The lymphocyte proliferation activity of spleen stimulating was tested. The level of IL-2 in serum of mice with transplanted sarcoma (S180) was measured by ELISA.Results The IC50 of Xerophilusin G in S180 cell lines was 19.80 μg·mL-1,the LD50 in mouse for Xerophilusin G was 121.11 mg·kg-1 through intraperitoneal injection. The tumor inhibition rate of Xerophilusin G was 32.11% and 41.60%,respectively at the doses of 3 and 6 mg · kg-1 (P < 0.05).Compared with the control, the thymus, kidney and cardiac index were decreased. The cell proportion at G0/G1 phase of mouse sarcoma (S180) was increased.T and B cell proliferation activities in tumor-bearing mice were enhanced (P < 0.05).As compared with control group, the serum level of IL-2 was decreased 90.9% and 77.1% in low-and medium-dose groups, respectively (P < 0.05).Conclusion Xerophilusin G has remarkable effects in sarcoma (S180) bearing mice. The antitumor mechanism of Xerophilusin G might be related with G0/G1 phase arrest of mouse sarcoma (S180) cells and enhancing the activity of T and B cell but not related with increasing the secreting of IL-2.
